faith

this morning devotional commute asked two question,
first question
what is faith?

gotta have FAITH

Ephesians 2: 8&9
8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast.

the other question was one about patents and copyrights,
i couldn't even spell patents,
i love when you misspell a word that you google,
it' asks the question,
DID YOU MEAN: insert correct spelling here?

THIS-to-THAT

this-to-that
Because people have a need to glue things to other things

ONE OF THE COOLEST WEBSITES EVER
i stumbled across this site in one of my many googles. It's the coolest. A must visit/bookmark for the DIY crafter. It's a how to attach THIS to THAT, basically how to glue anything to anything, in a very handy drop down list menu, where you click, scroll and choose---THIS---and then do the same for---THAT---and then hit the "LET'S GLUE" button to find out which glue will do the job.....there is also great info about glue, my personal fav FAQ, and some useful glue links.

devotional

Ezekiel 33:32
Indeed, to them you are nothing more than one who sings love songs with a beautiful voice and plays an instrument well, for they hear your words but do not put them into practice.

from CELEBRATE RECOVERY last thursday
quoted by pastor todd

I've been looking for this verse for a week now.

the book of ezekiel

the first few chapters in ezekiel, where he describes what GOD looks like to him are amazing, very visually descriptive, really illustrates the image in your mind. Anytime GOD speaks, he begins with, "Son of Man..."

ezekiel 1
26 Above this surface was something that looked like a throne made of blue lapis lazuli. And on this throne high above was a figure whose appearance resembled a man. 27 From what appeared to be his waist up, he looked like gleaming amber, flickering like a fire. And from his waist down, he looked like a burning flame, shining with splendor. 28 All around him was a glowing halo, like a rainbow shining in the clouds on a rainy day. This is what the glory of the Lord looked like to me. When I saw it, I fell face down on the ground, and I heard someone’s voice speaking to me.

this poem was a birthday present for my 30th birthday

from the divine ms. devoya mayo

who am I

the direct projection of memories

folded together

lemon water

and pieces

of spring

pressed tightly between the pages of an old book

am I the crush of slip and slides

heat waves and the energy held

captive inside a new box of crayons

considering that

this tongue has always been venomous

was I the child or the mother

the body of the mind

ego or just an unmade bed

am I all that I give or all that I get

am I layers or simple

straight lines

am I the stroke/the caress/or the open eyed orgasm

am I the wine bottle

filled with declarations of love or a fragrant primal temple

am I 1972 all crisp and funky

a groove that aint been dug yet

a pimp strut down delancy street

or the jazz that

absorbes funk like a sponge

oky…..here it is……

READY?……….

I…….

am a love song on

A mixtape

The saturated

Soul found within

My clinched fist

The seduction of a shag

Carpet and a nickel

Bag of funk

I am the kinetic/boundless/fiery line

Between diego’s canvas

And frida’s karma

I am

Both lyrical

and drowning in song

I am sharp ya’ll

Sticky soft and sweet ya’ll

Cotton candy on a rainy day

The perfect blueprint

For pointless

Conversations on sensitivity

I am a cleanly scrubbed floor

Everything you don’t need

But can’t throw away

The tiny miracle of reassurance

A fast getaway in

A slow ass car

And all of this is just today

Because I’m a woman

And we are continuously making room for who we

Might be

Tomorrow

Happy birthday

love devoya

my first FAUX stain glass window

my first painting on a window...

i onced lived in a house that had lots of stained glass, almost in every room. In the upstairs bathroom you showered or bathed in a golden glow from the light of the very large orange.brown.gold simple geometric shaped stained glass window that was just above the back of the toilet and stretched to the top of the raised ceiling.

at the bottom of the stairs was bamboo on a french door with 10 glass panels, i used to sit at the top of the stairs when i would talk on the telephone and look down on the glass bamboo garden below.
it was very simple with clear and green glass, it had to be a great feng shui, it was very zen.....

and then the cutest window, as if stained glass could be cute, but it was, in my closet was a very small window (9x12), it was different round bottle like bottom circles, different sizes, a large red one, and red stained glass is said to be very expensive because it has gold mixed in, and a smaller green one and a blue one and then clear ones that had different textures, one was bumpy with lots of little round circles like clear marbles, one was frosty and the circles set in clear and frosty textured glass, with waves and with squares, with every trip to the closet i made and effort to look at the art glass.

and the two front bay windows had stained glass borders, squares and petals in the corners with long lines of color interrupted by colored diamond shape symmetry...

i fell in love with stained glass, the way it would change the light and color of a room was almost magical, and throughout the day the shades and hues would change in this monochromatic dance of light as the sun rose and set, bringing in more or less light and disfused or vibrant color with each passing hour. It also provided privacy, like a colored glass curtain you never had to open or close.

since then i've longed to live in stained glass windows, but lacking the skills and the funds and let's face it, not having the patience to wait for them either, i began to experiment on the windows in my home with "faux" stained glass.

the first was starting with a sketch on the glass with a yellow highlighter, and then i outlined it with a black sharpee, the sharpee came out a little too opaque and gray for my taste, so i made a stencil and used black spray paint to get the hard dark outlines of the designs, the black that would frame and outline the color, this worked out great, and for the "colored glass" i used different colored markers, from your basic kids marker set, brush style markers and colored sharpees, highlighters worked surprisingly well. After all the coloring i spray sealed the markers with clear spray varnish. I made sure to do all of this on the outside of the glass so there would be better ventilation while spraying and while it dried. i loved how the first one came out.

BIRD IN THE BELLY
self portrait

i drew this when i was pregnant with Joaquin "BIRD" Merced Hofer. the bird flying upsidedown represents the holy spirit (nimbus) and being "with bird/child", i'm haloed by a spider web nimbus and below us is the new moon with 4 stars (my family), i have taken the crescent moon and star as my signature and in my art it usually represents me in this celestial image.

mUthA rocker

Love the mUthA

i bought this rocking chair at a thrift, one of the long back pieces was broken and i had to make a minor repair, not bad for 15 bucks, i used my readymade stencils for the big stuff and then freehanded the rest with the woodburner and it's many attachments, i then stained it with a mahogany finish, it sat weathering for years before i could get around to adding some to the woodburned drawing.....
